InterMinerva was not created from theory or trend. It was built from experience.
Back in 2005, long before InterMinerva existed, Peter Pateman renovated his first house. What started as a personal project quickly became an education. He learned the trades hands-on in his spare time, gaining an understanding of how buildings work in practice, not just on paper.
That first renovation sparked a long-term interest in property development. But it was Peter’s parallel career in military engineering that ultimately shaped how InterMinerva would operate.
From aircraft engineering to property development
Peter has spent over two decades serving as an Engineering Officer in the Royal Air Force, specialising in aircraft engineering. His career has involved leading a squadron of more than 120 engineers, managing complex, high-risk projects, and conducting detailed aircraft accident investigations.
These roles demand absolute clarity, accountability and attention to detail. Mistakes are not theoretical. They have real consequences.
Over time, Peter recognised that the same engineering discipline, systemised thinking and risk management used in military aviation could be applied to commercial property development, particularly in complex regeneration projects.
That insight became the blueprint for InterMinerva.
Applying engineering thinking to regeneration
At InterMinerva, property development is treated as a system, not a speculative exercise.
Projects are assessed rigorously, planned methodically and delivered with precision. Risk is identified early, assumptions are tested, and decisions are documented and owned. This approach reflects Peter’s engineering background, where structured processes and disciplined execution are essential.
Rather than chasing volume or speed, InterMinerva focuses on converting underutilised industrial and commercial buildings into high-quality starter homes that perform well over time.
This method protects capital, improves delivery outcomes and supports long-term asset value.
Leadership, people and values
Peter’s military career has also shaped how InterMinerva approaches leadership and culture.
Having led large, diverse teams in demanding environments, he understands that performance depends on people as much as systems. Clear communication, mutual respect and shared standards are central to how teams operate.
These values extend beyond internal leadership. InterMinerva places strong emphasis on collaboration with partners, transparency in decision-making and accountability throughout the lifecycle of a project.
Peter is also committed to employing military veterans and their families, recognising the transferable skills and mindset they bring to civilian roles. InterMinerva supports military charities as part of a wider commitment to responsible business and community contribution.
Regeneration with purpose
InterMinerva’s focus on regeneration is not accidental.
Transforming underused assets into homes reshapes places and communities. Peter believes that this responsibility goes beyond delivery. Projects should strengthen local areas, support long-term economic activity and provide homes that are comfortable, efficient and built to last.
This belief underpins InterMinerva’s approach to social value, quality standards and long-term stewardship. Development is measured not just by completion, but by how well it serves residents, partners and communities over time.
Continuous improvement and discipline
Outside of property and engineering, Peter has dedicated over 30 years to the Korean martial art Tang Soo Do. He holds a 3rd Dan Black Belt and has competed internationally.
The relevance is not the achievement itself, but the mindset behind it. Progress through consistent practice, respect for fundamentals and commitment to long-term improvement.
That same discipline informs how Peter approaches leadership, learning and development within InterMinerva. He continues to invest in his education across engineering and property, ensuring the business evolves alongside changing standards and expectations.
The foundation of InterMinerva
InterMinerva exists at the intersection of engineering discipline, military leadership and responsible property development.
It is built on the belief that well-run projects require structure, experience and accountability, and that regeneration done properly can deliver strong returns while creating lasting value.
Peter Pateman’s journey from aircraft engineering to property development is not a pivot. It is a progression.
One that continues to shape how InterMinerva plans, delivers and partners today.
